Valentines Day

Yesterday was Valentines Day. I wasn't really expecting anything since my boyfriend TJ is thousands of miles away. But When Kyle and Heather got home in the afternoon, they had a dozen red roses, white Lilies and a poem from TJ for me, I was more than excited as you can imagine. I feel quite loved, but what can I say? I love him too!

Don't forget to Wave!

This is the routine every morning. The kids are yelling "Don't forget to wave!" as mom and dad rush out the door. And here are the kids waving out the window: Abby, Sadie, and Emily.

Load Shedding

This is called load shedding, they cut off our power whenever they feel like it.

A Hot Sunday

Today is my 3rd week of teaching Sunday school for the 5 and 6 year olds, and today I had 20 children. It is quite a diverse class, they are a mix between Zulu, Indian, Afrikaans, English, Colored, and American kids, it's quite fun.
And I just have to update you on how hot Richard's Bay's summer is today. With humidity included, it is about 123 degrees Fahrenheit. So while you are enjoying your winter, I am enjoying a thoroughly hot summer.

All for His glory

Today is Friday, my day to go to Amangwe. last week there were only 9 children, and they didn't know if the creche and Grade R (daycare/kindergarten) would be able to stay open, but this week there were 32 children, and more coming. I have been talking to one of the teachers there about the truth of God's word, and she has many questions. Last week we started talking about God, and her desire to know Him more. She doesn't want someones theology on God, she wants someone to tell her the truth, and show her where it's found in the Bible. She told me last week, you show me the truth from the Bible so that I may believe, my heart jumped for joy. She has been heavy on my heart, and heavy in my prayers. God is in control of her heart, but He is using me in her life right now for His glory, I feel privileged to be a part.

The fun of living in another country

Mexican food is not something that is predominant in South Africa, therefore they do not sell such foods, but its is something we all love to eat...
so what do we do?
Make our own tortillas, this is just part of the fun of living in another country.

Another fun thing that has been happening often is load shedding. This is when South Africa turns off your power at random unexpected times during the day, because there is a shortage in power for the whole country. So here we are again eating cold cut sandwiches....

I've been kicked out of the nest

Normally when I go to the store I go to Spar which is only 5 minutes away, and there is no need for a parking guard, and it just seems safer to me.
So Yesterday...
I drove to Pick n Pay, (our local grocery store) by myself, which is really only 10 minutes away, I gave the parking guard the "ok" to watch the car, I went into the mall, got money out of the ATM... by myself (mind you, it's a little more dangerous here) I went in and got groceries, bought some post cards, came back out, paid the parking guard, and drove home. It doesn't sound like a lot to you, but it was a mini adventure for me. :)
